DANGEROUS GOODS DRIVER TRAINING

LOOKING FOR DANGEROUS GOODS DRIVER TRAINING MATERIALS?

Companies or training institutes that are RTITB Accredited to deliver ADR Dangerous Goods Driver training can choose from three RTITB ADR course options:

  • Driver of Dangerous Goods – Packaging and Bulk

Over a 3-day (24 hour) short course, candidates will learn the skills for their own safety. And that of the public and environment. They will learn how to limit the effects of an incident or accident. They will also learn driving skills suitable for carriage of dangerous goods in packages or bulk. This will help ensure compliance with ADR regulations.

The course is assessed by a 75 multiple choice question examination. Successful drivers will receive an RTITB Accredited Dangerous Goods Driver (Packaging and Bulk) certificate. This is valid for 3 years.

  • Driver of Dangerous Goods – Tanker

During this 4-day (32 hour) course, candidates will cover everything in the Packaging and Bulk course. However, they will also learn specific knowledge and skills relating to the transport of tankers. Such as the specific requirements and provisions for tanks. And procedures to be followed in relation to tanks. It also covers knowledge of filling and discharge systems.

The course is assessed by a 95 multiple choice question exam. Successful candidates will receive an RTITB Accredited Dangerous Goods Driver (Tanker) certificate. This skills certification is valid for 3 years.

  • Driver of Dangerous Goods – Radiation and Explosives

Over this 9-day course (72 hours), candidates will cover all the content from the courses above. However, they will also cover requirements and skills relating to the transport of radioactive or explosive loads.

They will learn the definition and classification of explosives and how to load, unload, and transport them. They will also cover the same skills for radioactive materials.

The course teaches candidates what to do if an incident involving radiation or explosives occurs.

Successful candidates will receive an RTITB Accredited Dangerous Goods Driver (Radiation and Explosives) certificate. They must pass a 115-question multiple choice examination. This certificate is valid for 3 years.

CAN I OFFER RTITB ADR COURSES?

To become an RTITB Accredited training institute and run the ADR courses, you will need:

  • An RTITB qualified ADR Instructor
  • Sufficient space in the classroom for the course Instructor to conduct demonstrations.
  • Examples of the equipment that vehicle crew members need, such as eye rinsing fluid, and emergency escape mask and filters.
  • A hard copy or electronic example set of vehicle markings used when carrying dangerous goods.
  • Firefighting equipment
  • Suitable fire simulator, digital training system or fire tray
  • A full range of fire extinguishers or suitable illustrations
  • A dry power fire extinguisher for candidates to use. (If a digital fire simulator is being used candidates should have the opportunity to handle a real extinguisher)
  • First aid training equipment, including eye rinse, a resuscitation dummy, and sterilisation equipment.
