ABA Releases Amendments to Counterbalance and Reach Testing

News | 1st Aug 2018

We would like to inform all RTITB accredited training providers of the newly revised Basic Operating Skills Test for Counterbalance (B1) and Reach (D1 & D2) trucks.

The test has been amended following feedback from the industry, obtained by the Accrediting Bodies Association for Workplace Transport (ABA) and will be mandatory for all RTITB accredited organisations to use from 1st September 2018. Organisations can download the new test now.

We strongly encourage all RTITB accredited organisations to read the new test in detail to ensure they are aware of the changes ahead of the mandatory use. Below are the key changes:

  • Fault 6 has had to work ‘unintentionally’ removed
  • Fault 18 has had the penalty increased to 5 points
  • Answer D in Question 11 of the Question Bank has been amended to ‘Reach carriage extended position and tilted forward’
  • Answer D in question 16 of the Question Bank has been amended to ‘When the load is at the maximum rated capacity of the lift truck

Following the above changes, it has been agreed by the members of the ABA that from 1st September 2018 there will be a yearly review of the B and D test, based on feedback obtained by the ABA members during the following year.

For all organisations using MyRTITB TrainingFriend your app will be updated with the new test before 1st September 2018 and you do not need to do anything.

Please contact us if you have any queries relating to the new changes.
