Accreditation for Bon-Accord Training sets the standard for MHE training in Scotland

News | 15th Oct 2019

Bon-Accord Training Ltd, based in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, is delivering a consistently high standard of materials handling equipment training to its varied customer base having become an RTITB accredited partner.

Founded in 1986, Bon-Accord Training provides skills and safety training across multiple industries, including construction, forestry, oil and gas and aviation. The company trains around 2300 mechanical handling equipment operators across Scotland each year, with courses for Counterbalance Lift Trucks, Multi-Directional Steer, Rough Terrain Telescopic Trucks, Side-Loaders, Pivot Steer Trucks, MEWPS, Pedestrian Pallet Trucks, and more.

“Bon-Accord Training became RTITB accredited in May 2019,” explains Laura Nelson, Managing Director for RTITB, the preferred workplace transport training accrediting body. “As an RTITB Partner, Bon-Accord Training can prove to customers that they are a trusted supplier, qualified to deliver professional training of the highest quality and have access to all of the resources they need to deliver standardised, compliant materials handling equipment training.”

With clear, intuitive training materials, Bon-Accord Training’s Instructors have started to deliver training quickly after becoming accredited. RTITB provides Instructor Guides for a wide range of machine types, perfect for their team of multi-disciplined Instructors, all of which include engaging PowerPoint presentations.

“Our courses are delivered 100% on customer sites,” explains Carol Gray, Training Manager and Director for Bon-Accord Training. “We’ve found that RTITB training materials are easily adapted to fit these different training environments and facilities, even when Instructors are faced with challenging terrain.”

“The modular approach to training also works well for us as our Instructors are rarely in a standard warehouse environment. It allows courses to be created easily and tailored to meet customers’ differing requirements,” she continues.

Bon-Accord Training has also signed up to use the unique MyRTITB TrainingFriend app for training administration and assessment. The app, which is only available to RTITB Partners, is designed to save time and money by making training admin and testing completely paperless, saving up to 5 hours per course.

“The development of this app is a real positive change and we are excited to see how it can help our Instructors by reducing paperwork,” says Carol. “Plus, it will enhance the training experience and give our trainees a new, user-friendly way to take their tests.”

As an accredited partner, Instructors get all the help and support they need from RTITB’s team, with quick response times ensuring that Bon-Accord Training can respond to customer enquiries quickly.

“RTITB’s service team is extremely patient and helpful and they never mind if I need to call several times to check something,” says Carol. “They supported us from start to finish through the Accreditation process and were keen to help us ensure that things were done correctly – I feel like a valued customer.”

“We’ve seen standards drop in materials handling equipment and plant training across the industry. However, with their training materials, customer support and commitment to raising industry standards, what RTITB is doing is great for our industry,” she adds.

RTITB is widely recognised as the gold standard in workplace transport training accreditation. Materials handling and plant equipment accreditation enables RTITB to support Training Providers with the resources they need to deliver standardised, compliant training.

Training Providers also receive free marketing support with a listing in the RTITB Course Locator at www.rtitb.co.uk/course-locator as well as targeted Google advertising campaigns to promote their business at no extra cost.
