Whether it’s guiding a lift truck operator through precise load handling, teaching safe excavation with earth-moving machinery, or coaching hazard awareness and manoeuvring skills – your Instructors are doing more than teaching tasks. They’re shaping how people think, act, and stay safe at work.
But even the best Instructors need the right tools. When they’re supported with clear, credible resources, safety doesn’t just improve – it becomes second nature. And training evolves from a box-ticking exercise into a powerful force for long-term behavioural change.
Great training does more than build competence. It builds culture. It protects people. And it sets the standard for professionalism across your operation. That’s why RTITB Trainers’ Guides are purpose-built to give your Instructors the structure and confidence to deliver effective, consistent, and compliance training – every single time.
Content is key
A core part of the RTITB Safety Chain methodology is ‘Content’. Why? Because a combination of credible training materials and compelling delivery methods can genuinely change company culture and behaviours around safe operation. So, Instructors need to start with the right course materials. And that is where RTITB Trainers’ Guides come in.
What are RTITB Trainers’ Guides?
RTITB Trainers’ Guides are ready-to-use resources that give Instructors the structure and information they need to lead effective training sessions with confidence. There are two formats available – Full Trainers Guides and the streamlined Lite Trainers Guides.
Introducing RTITB ‘Lite’ Trainers’ Guides
RTITB Lite Trainers’ Guides are a quick start training resource. They provide the essential syllabus and learning points. However, they do not include full narrative depth. The Lite Guides are well suited to experienced trainers who are confident in developing their own structure and plan for the course.
The Lite Guides feature the core compliance information Instructors need to deliver this training. Such as candidate eligibility, course duration, trainer-to-candidate ratios, and how the course complies with industry standards or qualifications.
Lite Guides include:
- A Trainers’ Guide with concise syllabus overview
- The Associated Knowledge Test
- PowerPoint slide deck (included with selected guides only)
As we mentioned, the RTITB Safety Chain methodology is designed to build competency in a structured, step-by-step manner. Compliance and safety must be ingrained at every stage of training. Lite Guides form the first link in this chain.
They provide an accessible starting point for trainers. However, they also serve as a crucial step in evaluating demand and gathering feedback from Instructors.
Should we identify demand to create a Full Trainers’ Guide, we can then do so driven by real-world feedback. This enables RTITB to provide guides that are as relevant and user-friendly as possible.
Full RTITB Trainers’ Guides
When there is sufficient feedback and demand, RTITB may develop a full Trainer’s Guide. Our standard RTITB Trainers’ Guides form a full comprehensive training resource. They provide the full range of in-depth materials an Instructor will need to deliver impactful training. Alongside an extensive framework to support more detailed lesson planning and execution.
The Full RTITB Trainers’ Guides include a Trainers’ Guide with full narrative for each topic or module, and a detailed learning structure for the syllabus. This covers specific detail on learning outcomes and teaching methodologies. Also, recommended ways to pace the training.
Instructors also have access to a session library, with pre-designed, ready-to-use plans for individual lessons that include lesson aims, objectives, technical knowledge, and durations. Guidance on effective teaching tools to use are also included, such as group discussions or activities, demonstrations, using video or other multimedia, reading assignments or case studies, and opportunities for group feedback.
The Full RTITB Trainers’ Guides also include:
- An Associated Knowledge Test, including Mock Papers
- Test Papers for Pre-Use and Practical assessments
- PowerPoint slide decks
- Appendices
- Supporting Documents
With so much included, the Full Trainers’ Guides are ideal for trainers of all experience levels, even for complex and detailed courses.
