At RTITB, we’re focused on our purpose: to save lives, reduce risk, and build a more capable, compliant, and confident workforce. As we look ahead to the coming year, we’re excited to introduce a range of new and updated products and services.

Each will help you address your real operational and training challenges. From road safety to skills gaps, and recruitment hurdles. Here’s a preview of some of what’s coming. And why it matters.

Credible Content for Measurable Results

Driver Assessment Packs – Now Live

Identifying high-risk LGV/HGV drivers is crucial for preventing incidents. Our Driver Assessment Packs provide a credible way to evaluate drivers. This enables action to be taken to maintain safety standards.

Imagine you’re hiring new drivers. During the recruitment process, you use the Driver Assessment Packs. One candidate scores high on certain risk factors. Based on this evidence, you provide the driver with additional training before allowing them to drive. This proactive approach enhances safety. It also ensures the driver is well-prepared for their role. This minimises the likelihood of future incidents.

The Driver Assessment Packs, which are available now at the RTITB Shop, can also be used for inductions and regular driver evaluations to check competence. With standardised assessments, companies can expect measurable improvements. Both around incident rates and safety infringements.

MEWP Training Updates – Launching 1st September

The Accrediting Bodies Association for Workplace Transport (ABA) has updated its Basic Operating Skills Test for MEWPs (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms). Sometimes known as cherry pickers, access platforms, or boom lifts.

This change will be mandatory from 1st November. It aims to elevate industry standards and make assessment more relevant and impactful. In line with these updates, we are refreshing RTITB’s training and testing materials – including the TrainingFriend App and eLibrary.

As well as the updated test, the new training materials will reflect the latest regulations and your feedback. This continuous improvement of RTITB training materials means that you’ll have the content you need to deliver credible, high-quality training that genuinely makes a difference.

Updated Workplace Transport Groupings: Trainer’s Guides – Launching 19th January 2026

The ABA is also updating its workplace transport equipment groupings. Existing groupings will be revised, and new groups will be introduced. RTITB’s training and testing materials will be updated to reflect the groupings, as well as updating the TrainingFriend App and MyRTITB Portal, in January 2026.

These updates are a vital part of making sure that trainer guidance is accurate, compliant, and audit ready. Because that is what ensures operators are trained with credible content that has a positive impact on site safety. More information coming soon!

Keep Teams Compliant

Driver CPC Return to Driving Module – Available Now

Returning to work after a long break can be challenging. Drivers may not feel confident in their knowledge. Getting back in the swing of things can be hard. For employers, knowing that a driver has the appropriate LGV/HGV licence is not enough. Can you be sure they are across latest regulation or safety updates?

A new RTITB Driver CPC Return to Driving Module helps reinforce safety behaviours for those returning to a driving role. This supports a culture of compliance. And it helps businesses fill skills gaps. Meanwhile limiting risks associated with drivers returning to the workforce.

Refreshed Driver CPC Modules – Launching Mid-August

Our industry is continually changing. There are new standards, regulations, and risks. Ensuring drivers receive training reflects these updates and is key for safety and compliance. Instructors also need fully up-to-date materials. That’s because this makes sure the training delivered is credible and high impact.

RTITB Driver CPC modules are refreshed every 5 years in line with the 5-year DCPC cycle. We are therefore updating the LGV/HGV modules in 2025 and PSV/PCV in 2026. The modules reflect current industry standards, helping to keep your teams compliant and prepared.

Lift Truck Engineer Trainer’s Guide – Launching End-June

Consider this: an engineer needs to perform a quick diagnostic check or maintenance procedure on a lift truck. However, it needs to be driven. They are not a trained lift truck operator. So, they must wait for a qualified operator to become available. This causes unnecessary delays. Perhaps they’ll decide they can’t wait and just ‘jump on quickly’. Then they pose forklift safety and compliance risks.

The new one-day Lift Truck Engineer course will empower in-house engineers with the skills to operate lift trucks for maintenance and diagnostic purposes. This removes barriers that lead to downtime. By equipping your team with this practical training, you boost safety and compliance. Operations run smoothly and unnecessary delays are avoided.

Standardise for Consistent Training

Driver CPC eLearning (LGV) – Available Now

DVSA reforms mean that eLearning can now be part of the Driver CPC training process. To support this change, companies can now use flexible Driver CPC eLearning for LGV/HGV drivers. Designed to be compelling and engaging and deliver consistent standards for every driver. The self-paced online Driver CPC training can also be completed around shifts. This adds convenience and accessibility. What’s more, the 12 hours of eLearning can be completed over the 5-year period, making it manageable to schedule.

Driver CPC eLearning (PCV) – Launching End-July

In addition, the Driver CPC eLearning solution will be tailored to the particular challenges and needs of bus/coach drivers. It is designed to help fleet operators efficiently deliver training for PCV/PSV drivers. The flexible, online training will help reduce training administration, without compromising high standards.

Utility Vehicle Trainer’s Guides – Launching End-June

A new suite of Trainer’s Guides – designed to support Instructors training operators of sweepers, gully suckers, LGV refuse vehicles and more will be introduced from June.

Originally developed for airside operations, these high-quality materials will help teams in councils, waste management, and utilities, to deliver consistent, compliant training. Wherever people and vehicles share space.

Picture this: a busy street or depot, and an operator confidently managing complex equipment thanks to clear, practical training. The difference? Fewer incidents, smoother operations, and a safer workplace.

With these guides, safety becomes scalable – and confidence, standard.

Culture: A Safety-First Mindset

Appointed Person Trainer’s Guide – Launching Mid-June

Where crane and lifting operations are complex, typically there has been a lack of structured training. For experienced crane and lifting professionals moving into planning or supervisory roles, there is little coaching or support. However, this presents a great opportunity to elevate safety standards with a new approach.

The new Trainers Guide will enable Instructors to deliver training that equips crane and lifting professional with the key competencies needed. It is designed to instil confident planning skills and knowledge. Culminating in a safe and compliant culture.

Vehicle Mounted Lift Truck (VMLT) Trainer’s Guide (Full Version) – Launching September

There was an overwhelmingly positive response to the ‘Lite’ Vehicle Mounted Lift Truck Trainer’s Guide. So, the introduction of the full Trainer’s Guide will launch during September to meet user demand. This gives VMLT Instructors a wealth of standardised training materials and resources. It helps support more in-depth course delivery.

The new training is designed to do more than just teach how to operate machinery. It enables operators to understand the importance of quality and safety in every task. It provides an efficient way to upskill operators to use VMLTs. And shows that you’re investing in their development. All while embedding core values into your team culture and providing peace of mind that operators are correctly trained.

Confidence is Key

Tailored Instructor Courses – Coming Throughout the Year

Operator safety and efficiency starts with training. And for that, operations need Instructors with the right knowledge and skillset. To help even more companies to uphold the highest standards, tailored Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP), Multidirectional, Overhead Crane (OHC), Tow Tractor and Slinging & Signalling Instructors courses will be introduced. This training will be designed to address the specific training needs of this equipment. In turn, ensuring that Instructors are well-equipped to deliver targeted and effective training.

Using the successful format of the revamped Materials Handling Equipment Instructor course, the new Instructor training aims to embed both competence and confidence in Instructors. They will be able to assertively cater to the evolving needs of today’s trainees. And inspire a culture of safety and excellence.

Operator Training Videos – Launching End October

The library of engaging visual aids for operator training continues to grow. Following the success of recent training videos for Low Level Order Pickers and Pedestrian Pallet Truck, new additions are on the way. This time focusing on Multidirectional Lift Trucks and Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPS).

Why does this matter? These ready-made tools support Instructors in delivering compelling training with greater efficiency and consistency. For candidates, visual aids like video enhance engagement, making it easier to understand key concepts. The result is a workforce of capable, confident, and motivated operators who perform their roles not only efficiently, but safely.
