HOW DOES A SUPPLY CHAIN WAREHOUSE OPERATIVE EPA WORK?

Every apprenticeship has an End-Point Assessment (EPA) plan which sets out the specific assessment Gateway requirements for that standard, which must be met before an apprentice can take an EPA.

The Supply Chain Warehouse Operative (ST0259) Level 2 EPA consists of two parts, a written test of knowledge and behaviours, and a practical test of workplace skills.

  1. During the 60 minute written test (usually delivered via our online EPA system), the apprentice will complete 17 short answer questions and 3 scenario questions. The test has a pass mark of 70% and distinction mark of 90%.
  2. The practical test is also 60 minutes and takes place in the workplace (or in a training centre which simulates the workplace). It involves the apprentice carrying out normal duties and using equipment which they operate regularly showing our RTITB assessor that they have the skills set out in the apprenticeship standard.

Typical work activities of the apprentice could include moving stock, taking deliveries, storing goods, checking for damages, order picking, packing, loading goods in the despatch area, stock control and much more. Apprentices will be required to operate any relevant equipment (machinery, MHE, forklifts or vehicles) safely.

WHAT IS THE SUPPLY CHAIN WAREHOUSE OPERATIVE APPRENTICESHIP LEVEL 2?

The apprenticeship suits new apprentices recruited to a business or existing staff as “personal development” to help retain, promote or nurture talent. Programmes can be created with clear progression pathways that benefit both the business and the individual.

A training provider or college will support the apprentice through the whole apprenticeship journey. The training provider or college will also work closely with the employer to develop a training plan for the apprentice that covers the knowledge, skills and behaviours outlined in the standards. They will also participate in milestone meetings and provide feedback to the apprentice and employer.

After the 12 month (or more) period, the training provider will work with the employer to decide when the apprentice is ready for end point assessment with a suitable EPA Organisation (such as RTITB in this case).
